"There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity." - Washington Irving

What a Saturday
We had an absolutely fantastic day! I had a chance to go to lunch with some friends I used to work with. We get together now and then to share stuff about our lives and catch up on work gossip we've heard about. It's a fun chance to see people and for me to do something that is just for me.
While I was out indulging myself, Dean and the boys were hard at work cleaning leaves off our front yard. It wasn't an incredibly horrible task because he had a fun leaf blower and a leaf mulcher to play with. Braedon likes to work the leaf blower and doesn't really understand the concept of putting the leaves in a pile. He takes the opposite approach and blows the pile apart. By the time I got home he was just about done. I helped out a bit until Braedon decided he wanted to go inside and take his shoes and socks off.
Later that night we headed out to the Christmas Gift Show at the South Towne Expo Center. It was a lot of fun and crazy busy with people. About three quarters of the way through Braedon lost all control. To say his senses were overwhelmed would be a large understatement. Picture hundreds of people, bright red carpet, smells and sounds that are unusual, and then music. By the time we got to the entertainment portion (a bunch of kids singing on stage) Braedon was out of control. Spinning in circles, laying on the floor, and throwing his arms up. He had a great time though, so I didn't mind that he was expressing himself. ;-) Looking at Reilly, I think he wished he could get out of his stroller and join his big brother.
If that wasn't enough, we decided to take the kids to eat at La Calandria. This was the first time we've ever gone to dinner with just our little family. Usually we go with friends or family. It went very well! Reilly ate beans and potatoes and Braedon tried to salt and pepper everything on the table.
By the time we got home it was definitely bedtime. Another fun day. A thousand to go...

A good day...
Reilly can walk!! It is something that has been a work in progress the past few days, but he can officially take a few steps before falling down. All he needs now is confidence. That little guy will walk all over if he can. I think the most consecutive steps he has taken before hitting the floor is five. Woohoo!!! Now if he would just say something!
I am working with him each day to just form his mouth into some kind of sound. I sit there and mouth "ma ma ma ma" until I'm tired of the sound. All he does is laugh and laugh. I'm not sure what is so funny about this sound, but it sure entertains him.
Braedon had a wonderful day in preschool. He loves going to both of his schools and knows the routine at each. I have noticed that when he gets home he tends to withdraw a little. I think some of that is because Reilly is asserting himself more and able to move around better. Braedon likes to lay on the tile in the kitchen and play with his trains and cars. I'm working of having Reilly do some play next to him. I guess we will wait and see.
Tonight Braedon went with his dad home teaching and after decided he wanted to go for a walk. In the cold rain. Dean headed outside in the dark and Braedon took off down the street. He walked straight to his uncle Daniel's house. Dean's brother lives down the street from us. Braedon walked up to his door and knocked and waited for Daniel to open up. Once he did, Braedon walked right into his kitchen and took a Starburst. Braedon loves chewy candy and his Uncle Daniel always has a small bowl in his kitchen of candy. Once Braedon got the treasure he was seeking he was ready to head back home. When he and Dean walked in the front door, Braedon looked at me and smiled. He knew what and where he was going all along. He is my cleaver little man.
