A little update

I have really enjoyed watching Reilly discover all the fun little things of the world. Perhaps his greatest joy in life is his big brother. Nothing will make Reilly smile bigger, laugh harder, or cry louder then his big brother. Just a look from Braedon is enough to send Reilly over the edge with laughter. I like to watch Reilly follow Braedon from room to room, just watching to see if Braedon will give Reilly that much wanted glance. Often times, Braedon doesn't pay him any attention. That seems to be just fine to Reilly. The rare occasions of a smile or glance from Braedon seem to make life just perfect for Reilly. I like watching this interaction and being a spectator.

Braedon loves his sunglasses, or "Gwa" as he would call them. One night he decided to keep them on and fall asleep. For President's Day we thought we'd clean the house a bit as a family. This is Dean and Reilly taking a much needed break from the action.
Braedon LOVES to clean, especially if you assign him a specific task. Dean put some latex gloves on his hands and he became a great wall cleaner. I think he especially loved dunking the rag in the cleaning solution.
I would like to thank my mother for sending the boys a Valentine's Day package full of candy and tissue paper. TISSUE PAPER!!! That was really loved by the boys. They tore it up into tiny pieces and threw it all over my living room. This is Reilly after eating as much candy as he could get in his mouth.
I would like to quickly say that the toilet seat Reilly has on his head is sanitary and clean. He just likes to wear it on his head.

FINALLY!!!!

Each night, when Braedon goes to bed, I give him a kiss and hug and walk him to his room. He watches a little movie and then we turn his TV and light off. He sometimes complains, but most nights just turns over in his bed and goes to sleep, usually holding one of his toys.

Last night started out much the same as all the others. I layed beside him for a few minutes and rubbed his back. When I left he was starting to fall asleep, or so I thought.

I was pretty tired myself and headed to my room to watch Top Chef and then go to sleep. As I began to get comfortable I heard Dean say "Braedon, what are you doing up?" The little guy walked into my room and crawled up on my bed. He got under the covers beside me and gave me a slight smile.

He could stay. ;-)

Dean turned the light off and left Braedon and I to watch Top Chef and snuggle. Braedon turned his head toward me and we layed there for a few minutes with our foreheads touching. I reached over and held his hand. When I moved my hand, he put his back in mine and held on. We layed there for awhile, foreheads touching and holding hands. I was watching Top Chef and not watching him.

That's when I heard the most beautiful word a mother can hear. He softly and clearly said, "Mom. Mom" I turned and looked at him. He smiled really big and squeezed my hand.

As tears were just coming down my face I told him I loved him and he fell asleep.

The neat part of this story is Braedon never calls me mom. He never says mom. He yells at me and points at things, but I never heard my son say that most wonderful of words, MOM. He did last night. The best night.
