Let summer begin

Do you know what is nice? When your child can tell you what hurts. Last night Braedon woke up crying and said, "Ear. Hurt." There you have it!! After some Ibuprofen and a warm cloth on his ear he was back asleep.

There was a time when screaming and crying for several hours would have happened until we were able to guess what was wrong. I hope Reilly picks up on that soon.

I'm happy spring and summer are well on their way. Normally, I wouldn't be because I can't stand the sun and heat. I'm a girl that loves cold rainy days...lots and lots of them. I think I did pretty good with weather in Alaska during high school. Now that I'm the mother of two very energetic boys, I like the sun and warmth. It means we can go to the park, go on walks, or open the back door and play outside for hours and hours. Cabin fever begins to set in with my boys around February.

Yesterday was our first outing to the park this year and it was a success. As we drove up, Braedon started yelling, "dirty. dirty." That means he wants to go play in dirt, which this park we go to has a huge sand pit. Once out of the car we headed over to the slide area. Reilly has recently discovered how fun slides are and ran right over and climbed up and slid down. There is a moment, just as he starts down the slide, that there is an expression of pure terror on his face. It then changes to excitement and thrill. I love to watch him because he has these expressions EVERY TIME he goes down a slide. The thrill never diminishes.

Life is good when the sun is out and the park is free, I guess.
