Today I was both the greatest mom in the world and the devil all within a 20 minute span and all with the same 2 year-old. Reilly decided that this morning he wanted to go outside and play. I let him play outside every afternoon and in the mornings during the summer. It's still a bit chilly outside, so it's afternoons only.
He tried knocking on the backdoor to see if it would open. He'd knock and stand there waiting, I suppose, for someone on the other side to open the door. When that didn't work, he came and grabbed my hand and led me to the door. I told him I'm sorry but we couldn't go out right now. I said it very nicely, I promise.
For the next few minutes he took swings at me with his little hands while his red face yelled at me in a very ugly tone. I felt the best way to handle this was to walk away and leave him to his anger.
After about 15 minutes he walked into the room I was in and sat down. I had put on the movie Happy Feet. His very favorite movie. To sweeten the deal, I was playing with a Mumble doll that makes noise and dances (the penguin in the movie). I was back in his good graces.
Mom's always know how to win the hearts of their 2 year-old boys. We are friends once again and will play outside this afternoon...if it doesn't rain.
Braedon was really cute this morning when I was getting him dressed for school. I was working on his belt when he started to say, "hug. hug. hug" He stretched his little arms out wide and I wrapped mine around him and squeezed. That's when I heard him say, "Oh, how nice." It was nice. He's such a tender hearted young man.

Wow! More than one post in a week!
Loved the 'oh how nice'... so sweet. (And I mean that sincerely...unlike when I normally mean it sincerely...if you get my point.)
You have sweet boys! So cute!! Glad you were able to get back onto Reilly's good side :)
