Day 1

I am going to blog about myself today. Nothing about my two wonderful boys and the craziness they cause. Just me. Well, me, my mom, sister, and sister-in-law and our adventure in San Francisco. Day 1

Today the guys watched all the children while we headed downtown to explore and watch Wicked at the Orpheum. We left at 9:30 and headed into town. I enjoyed the nice views as we drove of houses, the airport, candlestick park, the ocean. I tried to not anger my sister when she drove. She likes to hug the car in front and my nerves get a little on edge. We made it safely to our parking and now looked to find a cab.

Ever ride in a cab in a very large city? Yes?! No?! If you haven't, you simply are missing out. I've ridden in cabs in Washington DC, so this one was not a big deal to me. He zipped in and out of traffic, honked his horn, gunned his engine. It's similar to riding a roller coaster, but in a crowded downtown environment.

He dropped us off in little italy to walk around. For those of you that don't know me well, I LOVE italian food. Since it was 11 we decided to find a place to eat. We decided on this nice Sicilian place. It was the perfect choice. We watched part of the World Cup game, ate absolutely wonderful antipasto, and several dishes that were simply delicious. The woman that waited on us must have been in her 60s and she ran that place so well. When the table beside us asked what was good here, we overheard her say, "The meatballs of course". So, we ordered some meatballs.

After we ate we decided to head a street over and walk through chinatown. Let me start by telling you the difference between little italy and chinatown is night and day. In little italy there is an atmosphere of ease and enjoyment in the day. In chinatown it felt like eat or be eaten. It was so busy and so loud. Not my idea of a good time.

As we headed back to the comfort of little italy we heard a bunch of yelling and cheering. World Cup was still on. There is nothing quite as much fun as watching soccer with people who aren't American. They REALLY understand the game. We walked into this pub type place that was packed with people drinking beer and watching the game. Many had on soccer shirts. We were in the right place. We sat for about 15 minutes and yelled and cheered along. We decided that for the semifinals we'll need to find another bar to go to.

It was time to attempt another cab ride. This one was a bit easier on the stomach and the nerves. He took us back to our car. I'm sad to say that we then changed for the theatre behind the car in a parking garage. NOT my finest moment.

Finally it was time to see Wicked. We had our seats, read the playbill, had some water, and were set. It was incredible. I love that musical! If you haven't seen it, you need to.

Once it ended, we got back in the car and headed home. We found out everyone survived the day. They played in the bounce house and the slip-n-slide. Thank goodness my brother has those things in his backyard.

We grilled up some hamburgers and hot dogs, sat outside and ate, and enjoyed our night. Now we get ready for the 4th!! By the way, my favorite holiday is the 4th of July. We like to go all out and go till we all drop. Woohoo!!!
