Why January?

The past two years, right around January, Braedon does something rather interesting and a little alarming. He takes a giant step backward.

In school and at home his eye contact decreases, he doesn't play with his friends Rocky and Myles, he stops completing his program tasks, he doesn't answer questions, he constantly quotes movie lines that you can't understand, he yells and screams more, he doesn't sit still long enough to do just about anything, and on and on and on.

Last year, after seeing two doctors, we finally put him on some medicine. The problem with that was horrible emotional outbursts that lasted several hours. It did help his attending and other issues, but it was more then I could take and we stopped it.

By summer, he had returned to his normal little self and things seemed fine. School started in August and he loved it. Things were going along nicely and then came January.

It all started again. He has the same teacher this year he had last year, so she was quick to pick up on it. This time we started a new medicine, Methlyphenidate. It is AWESOME!!!! He is better then before. His ability to stay on task is amazing to me. The emotional outbursts? GONE!! That is my favorite part.

He still quotes movie lines constantly, but I don't mind. His doctor says it's ADHD and could also be something called Seasonal Behavior Disorder. I think the name speaks for itself, so I won't bother explaining it.

I'm just happy to have Braedon "back".
