Santa Fe Day One

Day One

The day had arrived.  We would be flying to Alburqurque and driving to Santa Fe for a wedding.  Braedon had only flow as a baby, so it was basically the first flight for both boys.  We had done a bit of preparation for this day.  We made sure our seats were all together and both boys had a window seat.  We talked, everyday, about going to the airport and flying on a plane.  Everyday Braedon would tell us he didn't want to go and it was Nanny's airport and we weren't allowed to go.  We ignored that and went about our plans.

Everything went so great at the Salt Lake Airport.  Braedon excepted the fact we were there and started to get excited about the flight.  We checked in, went through security (we got to go through the employee line cause our boys have autism -- FINALLY a benefit), bought two small Delta planes, and made it to our gate.  Our gate got changed and our flight delayed an hour, but things still went great!

We got on the plane, buckled everyone in, and enjoyed the flight.  I was more nervous then the boys.  I've flow A LOT in my little life, but I've never been more nervous then this flight.  My boys were about to be 33,000 feet in the air going about 500 mph.  That just didn't sit well with me.  The flight was pretty smooth and the landing was just fine.  We got our bags, rental car, and headed the 60 miles to Santa Fe.

We got to our hotel and as we were walking to our room, we passed an indoor pool.  Note to self: Going forward, find out if any hotel we stay in has a pool so it can be avoided.  The boys took mental note of the pool, but were more interested in getting to our room.  The boys LOVE to stay in hotel rooms.  I think most kids do.  We unplugged the phone (first thing we always do in a hotel), moved the coffee maker and any pens.  They were so excited that the beds were built to be jumped on.  I was even amazed at how well they could jump on them.  After getting a bit to eat, the two exhausted boys finally fell asleep.
