Driving

Wow, it's been a month since I lasted posted. We've managed to do a lot in a short period of time. Most importantly, vacation! Each year, over the boys spring break we head up to Pasco, Washington to visit my family.

This year we headed up a day later then normal due to a pesky pneumonia infection I was suffering from. Once I had the antibiotics, we were off. The trip up there is about 630 miles and takes roughly 11 hours. The boys travel VERY well! They watch DVDs, eat snacks, drive Dean nuts with requests, and always get a happy meal. I settle back and drive and enjoy the view.

Before you get to Baker City there is an old brick home. Long ago abandoned. It's a two story brick home. The windows have no glass in them, the brick is stained and weathered by time, the door is missing and you can see inside. It's empty. No furniture. There is an old wood barn that looks just like the Ingalls home. There is also an old wooden stable for horses. Each time I drive by this place I wonder about the family that lived there. It's the only old brick home on the drive. There are plenty of old wooden homes left long ago. This is the only brick home. It's a style you'd see from a home built in the mid 1800's or early 1900's. I like to think it was a family from the east coast that came across the plains and built a life. I can't help but wonder about what life this home had each time I drive by it.

Anyhoo, that's what I think about while I drive.

More on the vacation tomorrow...hopefully.
